I was raised on John Prine and Bob Dylan.
Bryan Adams* ain’t got nothing on this love song! So for all you oddball couples out there, this song is for you.
And just for the heck of it, another great Iris Dement song.
*I have to admit that I am huge sucker for Bryan Adams’ love songs–I can’t help it, I came of age in the 90s.

I love these songs. they live in my heart, along with Iris.
The song you’re referring to was written by John Prine and is named; “In Spite Of Our Selves.” Thank God John stopped smoking! We need more of his songs in the world.
One time, he knocked the ‘cherry’ of his cig, down the back of my wife’s lacey dress. Fun was had by all, in spite of ourselves!

Another John Prine song I like is “That’s the Way the World Goes ‘Round” thanks to being forced to listen to my Dad’s John Prine collection during many drives–I did not always like his music;) When I was in college I got to see him in concert.

Did he “chain-smoked Camel cigerattes”? hehe–for those who don’t know, I am alluding another John Prine song. Glad he stopped smoking, too, gotta preserve that voice.

Glad we were able to introduce you to one of the greatest…and it was a great concert!
If we were to do it all over again “In Spite Of Ourselves” would be number one as our pick for a wedding song.
