Hi Grace,
What a sweet little bat and what an interesting post! I didn't know about the fungus. It's fungus that's having a negative impact on frog populations too :(
The last time I saw bats it was at dawn near the salt marsh. They seemed to be following us as we walked along the trail, probably after the mosquitoes that were hovering around.

I haven't seen cedar waxwings in a while either. One year there was a nest of them in the front yard. One day I commented on how silly they looked crammed together in the nest they had overgrown. The next day they were gone. Maybe if my grandsons didn't gobble up all the blackberries they might decide to nest here again.

I haven't had cardinals yet, but would love it if they come by! I think they prefer stable feeders, and mine move around in the wind. I'd love to have grosbeaks, too, but I don't have their favorite food out (black-oil sunflower seeds) on a platflorm, which, I think, is their preferred style of feeder.

oh i love cedar wax wings!! we were lucky to have a few cardinals but I've always loved swallows for some reason.
Although I loved american goldfinches, I hated their dusty, larger counterparts- grosbeaks. Andrew, however, loves them lol. :)

I miss living in the country!

Oooh! How lovely! It reminds me, my little birds have eaten up all their food, and I have to fill it up again. And I really have to get myself a camera so I can take some pictures, they are so beautiful! :)
